Don't know if this was brought up before, but when time won't be an issue anymore, would you consider using the current engine to make a different game about television, something like "Show-runner Mogul"? You could pitch pilot episodes to networks, hire a team of writers, choose guest stars every season; then during the writing process you could choose whether you want your show to follow a more episodic/procedural structure or you want a straight up serialized drama. It could be interesting considering there is no game like that out there (or at least I haven't played one). What do you think? I actually had an idea while back about creating a TV show and basically being the showrunner. You would use a platform like Total Extreme Warfare and use the storylines to determine the path a show would go. You could book guests to up ratings, take the show in a direction that could shock people, it could turn people off, or maybe gain new viewers. Also, a TV station game would be fun, if done right. I remember a game called Primetime that came out that had a lot of positives, but too many bugs. Sadly the developer abandoned it. The TV industry has always been something I would love to see done well.

SimCinemaDeluxe is a fun game, but Carey is right in that it'd be a complete rewrite...which means a LOT of time and possibly expense. Of course, SCD has a lot of shortcomings, including that there's only like ten actors to cast from, and you can only do one movie at a time.

Let me reiterate:
I am NEVER going to move HM3 off of a monthly game turn. A weekly game turn would turn each year into 52 TURNS!
No way.
Also, I've thought much over the years about adding TV to Hollywood Mogul, but it's just too talent-intensive to be fun, as far as I'm concerned.
Sorry. HMdesigner

Carey gets to the point with my disappointment.
I honestly would not want to see HM incorporate a TV section because it would become less about films. A separate game would be fun to play, if done right, hot the half crap we half gotten over the years.

Hi Guys,
Later this week, probably on Friday, I will be launching a TV Sim that I've been working on for a long time. It's a web/email/forum based game attempting to simulate, as real as possible, the TV industry.
Players can take the role of Network CEOs (only 4 on the first seasons), Production or Creative Companies and/or Critics / Journalists.
Site is up and there's an email address where you can reach me. Not posting them right now because I don't want to break any rules. If you are interested, reply saying it's OK to post that info and I'll give you the details on another post.
Thanks, Networks: TV Sim Game Admin

A few ideas of things that would be nice or make it easier for us: - I would like to be able to type in a number instead of holding down the mouse button for ages to edit numbers. Try to edit the Top 10 list and you know what I mean. - A new version of the production deal contract. The green light concept is nice, however the game will always use your set up defaults. Sometimes I want to raise the budget -because I like the movie the talent selected - but I cannot. I don't want to give all my talent the same budget. I hire one talent who will make dramas, etc. so I get a chance at the award shows and another who prefers action movies for better box office results. I would like to give them a different budget, less for the drama more for action / scifi. Two possible solutions: 1) Negotiate a green light contract and give them an individual default budget. 2) Use the default budget as a "minimum green light" with the option to raise the budget if you like the idea. - Box Office Europe I am not quite sure, but I think the usual results you get in the european countries are about 10 million. Maybe you could reduce the markets and raise the gross results in certrain countries? The LotR Movies grossed about 80 million in Germany and the UK. Avatar and Titanic more than 100 million. After editing the Top 10 I am not sure if I will ever beat those figures ;D - What about a movie magazine instead of 2-3 pages of news presented by your assistant? (or maybe a submenu) A page about the different studios. A page about the most costly movie projects and a monthly updated list about the box office hits of the year? - And maybe a page about random scandals which effects star ratings? This is something HM doesn't cover but has a big influence in real life. Mel Gibsons career tanked after his antisemitic ramblings. Tom Cruise career did not jump the shark but the couch. Talent can die randomly, so I think it would be a nice feature if a talents career could change for the better or worse by random events (rehab / needs break because of stress, etc. / becomes a teen star / dates famous co-talent) and not only by box office results.

Ah, there is another little thing or two... The "Release Display" Could you change it so the fond and color I choose for the title is also used for the talent? This way I do not have to remember which shade of grey my shadow or highlight was. The Freeway I would like to use special pictures for the marina, the art gallery, etc. Just for the flair. I can send you examples but you could also just use the freeway picture as default and we decide if we want to add a picture or two

Just one more thing... ;D
- “CB zero” I am not sure, but I think the points right now will give the talent a share of all the movies earnings. However I think the usual deal today is “cash-break zero". So the talent will only participate after the studio has covered all its costs. Also the upfront fees have declined over the last years so the times of 20 million + salaries seem to be over. In HM3 will go up very fast, however hardly a studio is willing to pay these sums any more. Maybe this could be adjusted in the game.
