Honest opinion? I think it looks terrible. Overloaded, cluttered, unappealing... and what's up with that cheesy background picture?
With all due respect, but I think this is a terrible idea. Instead of throwing more and more stuff into the pot, concentrate on your core idea. If I want to manage a theme park I play Planet Coaster, if I want to develop video games I play Game Dev Tycoon or Mad Games Tycoon, if I want to manage a music company I play Music Wars.
Instead of wasting time on adding things I can get from other simulation games, concentrate on making the core game better.
And for me that means, make it more visual appealing. These things
do matter, no matter what some die hard fans are telling you. There is a reason your kickstarting campaign failed and a big part of that probably was, that the game looks like a big mess made in the 90s.
This has nothing to do with being superficial or valuing style over substance. A game that relies entirely on menus, has to have good a user Interface.
Your menus need to be tidy, clear, easy to navigate and appealing enough that I don't get a headache from looking at them after a couple of hours.
I really liked HM3, but I took me over a hour and a lot of frustrated clicking around to make my first movie, because I couldn't find the god damn greenlight-button. It's an integral part of game design to avoid things like that. A game should be challenging because of the complex game mechanics, not because I can't find the right buttons and sliders in the overly cluttered menus.
I'm sure your amazing at game programming, but you are obviously not interested in game design at all.
If you want to reach anyone but your absolute die-hard-fans you absolutley need to improve in that area. Instead of adding a wagonload of features nobody realley wants from a game about managing a film studio, invest some time into learning Windows Presentation Foundation or (even easier) Microsoft Blend (both are free by the way) or any other UI design tool. Blend makes it very easy to design a good looking, easy-to-use UI and it took me about 4 or 5 days and one youtube tutorial to learn how to use it.
Also, try to get feedback from people a little more neutral. Users in this forum already love your games so they are probably not very objective and are going to tell you whatever you want to hear to encourage you.
