In terms of things that have already been mentioned I'd like to throw my support behind:
*Pre-writing sequels for planned franchises while the first film is still in production. *A feature specifically for spin-offs that aren't really direct sequels. *Option to shoot films in 3D or convert. *Return of the back-to-back shooting ability for sequels. *Scriptwriting length refinement.
Other thoughts I've had:
*The ability to select release formats that may affect gross - Premium Large Format and 3D for example. *More options for shooting formats - 16mm, 35mm, 65mm, some non-trademarked IMAX film equivalent, 2K, 4K, et cetera. *Possibly also options for premium sound formats like Auro, Atmos and DTS:X. *Updated home release formats to include stuff like 4K Blu-ray and digital downloads. *Possibly a feature to create prequels specifically, since these tend to behave differently than sequels or spinoffs. *A feature to designate something as a reboot of a franchise, so it keeps its franchise ties but doesn't behave like another sequel. *Ability to create crossovers between previously unrelated franchises, a la Freddy vs. Jason. *Maybe the ability to re-release/expand a movie in more theatres if you open it limited and it does well?
EDIT: Thank God. I didn't have anything to think about this weekend. I HATE the idea of shooting movies back-to-back, it's a coding nightmare. Or it was the first time. I'll think about it. Everything else is terrific. Thanks

I'm actually surprised I didn't mention this sooner. But...How about the ability to purchase the rights to make movies from other studios?

So here's what I want you to think about: How would you feel if the game looked more like a business app than a computer game but was developed faster? The thing is ... if I did it with more traditional Windows(R)-type controls ... I could really go crazy and add EVERYTHING to the game that I had originally planned all those years ago ... Hollywood Movie Studio TV Production Studio TV Networks and Cable Channels Music Company Publishing Company Theme Parks Animation Studios Special Effect Houses Video Game Production All in one game. Everything, all the data, would be in text files you could edit ... and you could just add stuff you wanted. For example, you could easily add new movie genres, or new shoot locations, or create your own Production Problems ... I've always wanted to just go crazy with HM. This way I could. And so could you. Eventually. One of my all-time favorite games is one called Stars! The graphics on that game are ... serviceable. The gameplay is what kept me coming back to it. My point? If the gameplay is good, the graphics don't matter all that much. Anyone who insists that you need good graphics for a good game lacks imagination.

This is probably too late...but Special effects should be split into 2 categories...'Practical and Computer Generated'.

Hey. I'm new to the board but have been a fan and player for at least 13 years or so... Wow. Glad to see that development of HMS2 is underway again, seemingly. I read through the thread and wanted to say there've been a ton of great and exciting ideas to come out. I just wanted to add my two cents if you'll indulge me. In terms of talent, I think it would be great to have birthdates, or years even, as opposed to a strict age system. That way if I decided to start a game in 1960, I can be sure that I can include a modern actress like Emma Stone as one of my "new stars" but i know she won't become part of the database until at least 1992 or whatnot. It would help create historical databases a lot easier than the current model, as I find it very difficult to play the game and attempt realistic game mods / databases for that reason. My other suggestion, as I know it's been mentioned here already, but I would suggest you check out the Total Extreme Warfare 2016 game. Modding that game database is incredibly easy for mod-makers, and while there is a ton of detail (which, quite frankly a game such as HMS would require much less detail), it is still an easy one to navigate. And in terms of game play, it is incredibly fun despite being text-base as well. I'd suggest you download a trial copy for free to check out the mechanics of the game databses. Following a similar model to that, then a lot of these suggestions for characters (ei. all of them being in one database, having it be unlimited, having new stats, etc.) would work very well and easy to play... Unfortunately I can't comment on the coding aspect as that is not my thing at all. Just a few suggestions Regardless I wish you luck and I look forward to the game release (if it does in fact get released). Thanks !

I was thinking about this a day or two ago. You know how we create-a-actor aka talent searches? It'd be nice to have a similar thing for Directors.
